This hotel is out of this world, I've read some of the reviews and agree that the service level and overall attention to details is something extraordinary. The owner, Luigi Protti, is just fabulous, in fact, I got so attached that I wanted to give him a hug when we checked out , but was too shy to do so. My partner and I both agreed, this man, the hotel and the restaurant is too good to be true. We actually discovered this hotel by chance, as we were renting a villa down the road and on one of our walks stumbled across the hotel and thought to try the dinner , which was one of the best meals we've had, and since we are a bit of "foodies' we can highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. Everything from the way the order is taken , the menu for the ladies is w/out prices (old school and I liked it!) and the china the food is served on, everything is given 110% attention, the food, goodness, you have to be there to understand.
We liked our dinner to such an extent that we landed up returning 3 more times over the course of the week on the last night we stayed over at the hotel, where Mr Protti upgraded us to a suite as we had developed a close connection.
The room was fabulous, romantic, just perfect. Breakfast, one word, divine.
We cant wait to go back in the summer (the hotel is closed for winter) - and I hope to come back as many times as possible. thank you Mr Protti for giving us an adventure of a lifetime.

Signor Protti treated us to our best night's stay during the Italian leg of our honeymoon. The level of service throughout our stay was exceptional; signor Protti is clearly a passionate hotelier whose attention to detail is rarely matched within the industry. His hotel is beautifully decorated, which complements the breath taking views across Chio Valley, and is well appointed. Dinner was a real treat from the aperitif on the terrace, overlooking the twinkling lights of the surrounding villages, to the dinner itself. The theme of good service continued throughout the evening, but the highlight was the delicious Tuscan food, home baked bread and homemade olive oil that we will remember for a long time. After a peaceful night's sleep we were treated to a delicious and plentiful breakfast, again an exceptional meal. We left the hotel knowing that we had experienced a very special 24 hours; one we will remember for many years.

Many thanks to Signor Protti and his family and staff for making our stay and Relais San Pietro so special. We spent a week in September, and we're still talking about the lovely views (both near and far), the perfectly prepared food, the wonderful wine, the scents of the herbs and flowers, and the exquisite quiet. We very much look forward to visiting again....

Relais San Pietro is a dream come true if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing spot to decompress. The property and rooms are beautiful and immaculate, and the views are out of this world. Sitting by the pool (or in your room) and hearing nothing but birds chirping will be a lasting memory for our family.

As has been mentioned by others, the food is excellent, and when combined with the opportunity to eat on the terrace while enjoying the Tuscan hills and countryside, it is an experience you will not soon forget (as I sit here typing this, I want so badly to be back at Relais San Pietro!). The icing on the cake is Signore Pratti, and his fine family and staff. They are incredibly kind and gracious.

The location is also convenient for making day trips to numerous interesting towns - either by car, or by driving 10 minutes to the train station in Castiglion Fiorentino.

We hope to be back to visit Signore Pratti and his gem!

After finding this jewel on trip advisor 6 years ago, we visited and fell in love with the breathtaking view, the exquisite food, the quiet charm and the gracious hospitality of Sr Luigi Protti. We have now been back to Polvano and his wonderful Relais 3 more times. The nightingales song, the abundant lavender and pots of geraniums, the risotto primavera, the crisp linen sheets, the prosecco on the terrace, the warm and welcoming staff, the rolling Tuscan hills dotted with cypress and vineyards, a perfect cappuccino alfresco with the bountiful breakfast of local delicacies. This is the place we visit in our dreams.

We just returned home from a 2 week tour of Italy. One of the highlights of our trip was our stay at San Pietro. The beauty, accommodations, food and staff were all perfect...we would not have changed a thing. We would categorize this charming and exquisite resort as a "must see" and we will undoubtedly visit again as soon as we can.
